‘Blood all over.’ 2 minors, 3 adults injured in Fort Lauderdale shooting, police say
An altercation between two groups of people inside a Fort Lauderdale apartment complex Wednesday night ended in gunshots that left five people hospitalized, including two minors, police said.
Around 8:40 p.m., one group was hanging out in the courtyard of Broward Gardens, in the 2900 block of Northwest 19th Street, Fort Lauderdale Police Chief Patrick Lynn said at a news conference.
That’s when a second group confronted them and gunfire followed, he said. Five people — two juveniles and three adults — were wounded and taken to Broward Health Medical Center.
One of the adults suffered life-threatening injuries. The others had various injuries that appeared to be non-life threatening, according to police.

A neighbor, who did not want to be identified, told reporters at the scene that she ran to get her son after hearing a barrage of gunshots — as her heart was racing.
“Everybody was just running all over,” she said. “A couple of guys were running around the corner and said they were shot.”
One of her friend’s sons, who is about 15 years old, was shot in the leg, she said.
“He was nervous and shaking,” she said. “It was just scary.”
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Fort Lauderdale police Detective Sean Reddish 954-828-5676 or Detective Tiffany Williams at 954-828-6617.
“This is of course a very serious matter ... and all resources of the police department have been deployed to determine the cause of this incident and identify the suspects involved,” Lynn said.
