Severe weather is in the forecast today. Will it be as damaging as the storms last week?

Only a week after severe storms spawned a tornado and caused widespread damage in southern York County, more bad weather could hit the area today.

The forecast calls for strong to severe storms in south-central Pennsylvania with damaging winds and heavy rain that could lead to flooding. Isolated tornadoes are possible, too, according to the National Weather Service and AccuWeather.com.

South-central Pennsylvania could see severe storms Monday, just a week after storms caused widespread damage across southern York County.

York, Adams and Lebanon counties are included in the hazardous weather zone.

The severe weather is expected to move in around dinnertime and later into the evening, National Weather Service forecaster David Martin said. He does not expect it to be as severe or widespread as last week's storm.

Cleanup continues in southern York County

Chainsaws hum in southern York County while cleanup continues after severe storms last Monday twisted trees and knocked out power to about 24,000 households.

An EF1 tornado touched down in East Hopewell Township during the storm. It caused damage to two fields and uprooted a couple dozen trees, the weather service reported.

Some customers waited for days for power to be restored.

Shanberger's Pool, also known as Shenny's, in Fawn Grove posted on Facebook that it reopened on Sunday. It was without power until Friday night.

Dry weather ahead for south-central Pennsylvania

While south-central Pennsylvania has been in a stormy weather pattern for more than a month, the area could experience a dry week after the rain moves through, Martin said.

The forecast calls for sunny weather with highs in the 80s for the rest of the week.
