Selling Sunset spoilers follow – including the plot of season two.

It was as though Netflix read our minds; Selling Sunset returned with its hotly-anticipated second season just when we needed it most.

Taking us back to the beautiful surroundings of Los Angeles, from Hollywood to Beverly Hills, as well as the equally glamorous real estate agents of the Oppenheim Group, Selling Sunset's second run was everything it promised – except this time, somehow, the personal drama ramped up a few notches.

If you've already whizzed your way through the new eight episodes, you're likely to be hungry to know what's coming next. The season finale took the cameras into Mary Fitzgerald and Romain Bonnet's gorgeous wedding (which, naturally, took place in one of the show's absurdly picturesque properties), but then ended pretty abruptly.

Tacking a "still to come" montage on at the very end, fans were given a hefty teaser of what's in store for season three.

One jaw-drop moment saw a very tearful Chrishell Stause talking about the end of her marriage, peppered with scenes of her co-stars and colleagues reacting to it being "all over the internet".

So, what actually happened in real life?

In November 2019, it hit the headlines that Justin Hartley – who had first met Chrishell while they were filming Young and the Restless together – had filed for divorce after two years of marriage.

People reported that Hartley had cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce. Documents also reportedly listed July 8, 2019, as the date of their separation, but the pair had been publicly attending events together (including the Emmy Awards) until November.

The split was said to have 'blindsided' Chrishell, and she has maintained that the pair were still together until news of the divorce broke.

Although some reports in the US claim, via sources, that the couple had been experiencing marriage problems for a while, it was also said that Chrishell did not expect divorce to be the outcome. Another report (via Screenrant) saw an insider claim that "people close to Justin and Chrishell are completely shocked by Justin filing for divorce" and that "the couple has always been incredible with no signs of things being on the rocks".

During a recent interview with ET Canada, to discuss Selling Sunset season two, Chrishell opened up about how difficult it was to have the divorce play out while filming the reality series.

"This is still new for me trying to adjust to such an uncomfortable thing but unfortunately yes, the cameras were there. I still had a month left of shooting when my personal life kind of exploded," she said.

"It's not a comfortable thing to live in front of everyone. If I'm being 100% honest with you, it's friggin' awkward. They were there and some of it is going to be shown and I'm dreading that."

Viewers have only seen a few moments play out so far. In one particularly emotional scene, a tearful Chrishell told Mary, "I'm just kind of in shock with it all… It's just a lot all at once because everybody in the whole world knows."

"I love him so much, this was my best friend, who do I talk to now?"

Chrishell's break-up – along with Christine's extremely casual (ahem) wedding and ongoing feud with Amanza – is sure to make up a lot of season three.

All we need now is for that to drop on Netflix too.

Selling Sunset is available on Netflix.
