Indiana State Police believe body of Patrick Stern found in burnt SUV; homicide suspected

UPDATE: This article was updated Oct. 10, 2023, with more information about a Noblesville man who was reported missing in March.

Indiana law enforcement officials believe they may have found the body of a Noblesville man last seen in Indianapolis and who went missing roughly seven months ago.

In early September 2023, a severely burned Cadillac Escalade registered to Patrick Glenn Stern, 58, was found in Indianapolis, according to a news release issued Tuesday the by Indiana State Police.

Inside of the vehicle, police said, were the remains of an adult male believed to be Stern.

Indiana State Police Detectives are awaiting DNA analysis results to confirm Stern's identity but were confident, ISP said, the remains recovered belong to Stern. The case is being investigated as a homicide.

What Patrick Glenn Stern looks like

Stern is described as a white man standing 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 185 pounds.

When and where Patrick Glenn Stern was last seen

While he lives in Noblesville, investigators say Stern was last seen on the southeast side of Indianapolis on March 2, 2023.

An alert was issued requesting the public's help finding him. Investigators on April 21, 2023 said the circumstances of Stern's disappearance are "suspicious" but did not provide additional details.

On March 2, police say Stern was seen driving a black 2012 Cadillac Escalade SUV with Indiana "Colts" license plate IC840. The vehicle is equipped with a trailer hitch on the back and has tinted windows.
