See Zac Efron's Impressive Physique As Kevin Von Erich In 'The Iron Claw' First Look
Zac Efron showed off the first look at his wrestling-ready physique in the ring for his new movie based on the life of the legendary Kevin Von Erich titled “The Iron Claw.”
On Monday, Efron took to Instagram to share what appears to be the first look at his new movie in which he plays the former wrestler. In the still, he’s flying through the air delivering a sidekick to his opponent while the referee and the crowd watch in amazement.
“First Look at my latest project Iron Claw! Can’t wait to show you more…let’s go,” he captioned the post.

The highly physical maneuver showcases Efron in character and the impressive muscular transformation he’s undergone to look the part of Von Erich. Although this is the first official image from “The Iron Claw,” a photo previously leaked of Efron in character from the set of the film drew the attention of the real-life Von Erich himself.
“He looks really good and muscular! He must be really working hard,” Von Erich told TMZ. “I haven’t spoken to him, but my daughters love him, and they think he’s the right guy to do it.”
The former wrestler and WWE Hall of Famer went on to joke that, although Efron certainly looks the part of a professional wrestler, he admits he never looked as good as the actor does right now. Still, he certainly built an impressive career off the body and talent he had.

Von Erich came from a popular wrestling family. In fact, the film’s title is a reference to the finishing move pioneered by the family patriarch, Fritz Von Erich, who first came onto the scene in the 1960s. He would later convert Big Time Wrestling to World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW), which acted as a stepping stone to some popular WWE Superstars including Jake “The Snake” Roberts, manager Paul Bearer, and the legendary Shawn Michaels.
This is where Kevin made a name for himself alongside his brothers. In 2009, the family was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, all of which will likely be covered in the upcoming movie. “The Iron Claw” is directed for A24 by Sean Durkin (“Martha Marcy May Marlene”), Tessa Ross, Derrin Schlesinger, and Harrison Huffman producing.
