See Travis Hunter score first touchdown of Jackson State football career
Jackson State football's Travis Hunter scored the first touchdown of his college career Saturday, using his speed to burn the Alabama A&M defense on a 20-yard catch-and-run from quarterback Shedeur Sanders with 10:22 to play in the first quarter.
Hunter, the No. 1 recruit in the nation in the 2022 recruiting class, caught two passes on the opening drive for the Tigers. He also made his presence felt early on defense, defending one pass in the back of the end zone to thwart a scoring threat at Alabama A&M.
Hunter's touchdown was long awaited after suffering an injury in the preseason and missing four games following JSU's season-opening win over Florida A&M on Sept. 4. Hunter has played in the past four games for the Tigers (9-0, 6-0 SWAC), who are off to their best start in program history.
