See Sherri Shepherd's Inspirational Wardrobe Malfunction
As the saying goes, "the show must go on," and Sherri Shepherd feels no differently when it comes to continuing to press through, no matter what.
On the May 30 episode of her daytime talk show Sherri, the comedian pulled her wig off her head, prompting a dramatic reaction from her live studio audience.
But the somewhat wild gesture was not in vain—it had truly inspirational roots. The inspo for the moment came from a recent sermon delivered by Sarah Jakes Roberts—daughter of famed non-denominational Christian pastor and The Potter's House leader Bishop T.D. Jakes—who recently shared a video on Instagram of herself getting so passionate during speaking that she removed her hair piece after the glue it was affixed with began to come loose, causing it to slip off of her head.
“So Sarah didn’t let that stop her from (preaching),” the host and fan of Jakes Roberts said, adding that “she took matters into her own hands.”
As Shepherd was detailing how it feels to have a wig start to slip and how inspirational the moment was, she jumped from her seat, proceeding to remove her own wig as the crowd clapped and cheered her on.

“The wig came off, her hair, oh, my God!” she said. “And what you gonna do? The show gotta go on.”
The broadcaster then threw her hairpiece into the audience, before adding how much she loves the inspirational leader.
A video from the occurrence was posted on the official YouTube account of the talk show, with a fun caption reading, “Let’s just say that the viral clip of Sarah Jakes Roberts wig-slip sermon was so powerful it blew Sherri’s wig off too!!!”
Jakes Roberts, meanwhile, addressed her hair mishap on Instagram the day it happened (May 28), explaining in part, “Today I was preaching and I could feel my wig slipping. My message was more important to me than maintaining my appearance so I took it off, locked in, and kept preaching.”
She continued: “What moved me the most was seeing how many women joined me in getting courageously vulnerable, real, and free. Literally, wigs coming off everywhere.”
The Woman Evolve author noted that she’s sure the video of the situation will “circulate a bit,” but most importantly, hopes that the message in her sermon gets out.
