A tornado ripped through Moss Point on Monday afternoon, leaving damage and destruction in its wake.
Eight people were trapped inside of Merchants Marine Bank and later rescued as the twister bore down on the Mississippi Coast city, damaging businesses along Main Street and destroying many homes in the area.
Residents near East Bayou Avenue told the Sun Herald that the tornado destruction in the area is worse now than it was after Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
There were minor injuries reported, Jackson County Sheriff Jon Ledbetter told the Sun Herald.
