See Matthew Polk's diving catch for Vanderbilt baseball vs. Ole Miss

Vanderbilt baseball left fielder Matthew Polk made a diving catch on a hard-hit line drive in the sixth inning of Thursday's series opener against Ole Miss.

With a runner on first base, Kemp Alderman hit a line drive at 114 miles per hour. The ball seemed ticketed for the left-center field gap, but Polk tracked the ball down and dove for the out.

The No. 8 Commodores (13-5) are facing the reigning national champions in the No. 3 Rebels (14-3). It's the first time the two teams have faced off at Hawkins Field since 2018, though they played each other in the SEC Tournament in 2019, 2021 and 2022 and also played in a series in Oxford, Mississippi, in 2021.

Vanderbilt starter Carter Holton pitched six innings, allowing two runs with five strikeouts and no walks before being replaced by Bryce Cunningham. The Commodores held a 6-2 lead at the time of the diving catch.
