Secaucus woman killed in Carlstadt hit-and-run was part of St. Peter's Prep 'family'
Days after a pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run in Carlstadt, funeral arrangements have been set for the beloved mother and school employee.
Deborah Peko-Lillis, 61, of Secaucus, died after being hit by a car on Hoboken Road on Friday night. The driver, Justinian Cuevasmetemi, 70, of Passaic, was arrested after allegedly leaving the scene of the crash, the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office said.
Peko-Lillis worked in the advancement office at St. Peter's Prep in Jersey City, beginning in 2010, the year her son graduated from the school.
"Debbie was a proud Prep mom — her son Kyle graduated in 2010, but she was a Prep mom forever — and a dedicated member of our advancement office staff for more than a decade," St. Peter's Prep President Michael Gomez said in a statement.
"With a tremendous and generous heart, she left her mark on all of us, forming an unforgettable part of the Prep family she loved so much. Our love and prayers are with Debbie’s family in this difficult time," he said.

A visitation for Peko-Lillis will be held at Mack Memorial Home in Secaucus on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be held the next day at Immaculate Conception Church in Secaucus before burial in North Arlington.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Lillis; her son, Kyle, and his wife, Andrea; granddaughter Francesca Rose Lillis; her brother, James Peko, and sisters-in-law, according to her online obituary.
Cuevasmetemi was charged with second-degree leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in death, and third-degree endangering an injured victim. He was also served with multiple motor vehicle summonses. He is set to appear in court Friday.
