Seahawks QBs coach Dave Canales also interviewing with Bucs

The Seahawks have at least two hot coordinator candiates on Pete Carroll’s staff. Associate head coach Sean Desai has interviewed for several defensive coordinator positions – including the Broncos’ DC spot under new head coach Sean Payton. Meanwhile, quarterbacks coach Dave Canales has had two interviews with the Ravens for their open OC job after they fired Greg Roman.

You can add the Buccaneers to the list of teams who are interested in Canales. According to Jeremy Fowler at ESPN, Canales is interviewing with Tampa, as well.

Canales has been with Seattle since 2010, when he came in with Carroll as wide receivers coach. He held that position for seven years, then moved up to quarterbacks coach in 2018. He was also the team’s passing game coordinator from 2020-2021.

The Bucs fired their former offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich on Jan. 19. During the regular season Tampa ranked No. 25 in scoring, averaging just 18.4 points per game.
