Ryle, Cooper juniors join teammates in Kentucky-Indiana all-star basketball series
Two Northern Kentucky players in the Class of 2024 will take part in the junior all-star games that are part of the prestigious Kentucky-Indiana All-Star basketball series.
The Kentucky junior boys and girls teams will play the Kentucky senior teams beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 3, at Louisville Eastern High School. The Kentucky juniors will then square off against the Indiana juniors June 4 at Jeffersonsville (Indiana) High School.
Two Northern Kentucky players were selected to the junior all-star team Tuesday. They are Cooper’s Liz Freihofer and Ryle’s Quinn Eubank. They will join senior teammates Whitney Lind (Cooper) and Abby Holtman (Ryle) to represent Union in the festivities as they will play for the Kentucky seniors in the all-star series.
Lind and Holtman also played together in the Kentucky-Ohio senior game in April.
Freihofer averaged 10.3 points with 32 made 3-pointers for the Jaguars, who went 29-4 and won the Ninth Region championship for the second-straight season. She has an offer from Eastern Kentucky.
Ryle was 24-9 and regional runner-up to rival Cooper for the second year in a row, with Eubank averaging 14.3 points and 8.5 rebounds. Eubank has received Division I offers in recent weeks from Evansville, UAB, St. John’s and Ball State.
The juniors will help prepare the senior teams for the showcase event, as Kentucky faces Indiana in a girls-boys doubleheader in Owensboro, Kentucky, on June 9 and the rematch on June 10 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
The rest of the Kentucky junior girls roster is Hayden Barrier (Montgomery County), Reagan Bender (Sacred Heart), Audrey Biggs (Boyd County), Dea Bradley (Hart County), Ayanna Darrington (Douglass), Claire Johnson (McCracken County), Destiny Jones (Central), Mariah Knight (CAL), Angelina Pelayo (Sacred Heart), Trinity Rowe (Pikeville), Shaelyn Steele (Russell) and Ramiya White (Butler).
In addition to Lind and Holtman on the girls side, Holy Cross senior Jacob Meyer and Lloyd Memorial's Jeramiah Israel will play in the Kentucky boys games. Meyer recently committed to Coastal Carolina and Israel will play for Northern Kentucky University. Lind will play for Lehigh and Holtman for Cincinnati.
