Rupp, Wenger, Vermilya earn Northeast Inland Player of the Year awards

Justin Rupp, Braylon Wenger and Corri Vermilya have all made a big impact during their high school basketball careers, and they saw more accolades come their way with the release of the All-Northeast Inland District basketball teams.

Norwayne's Rupp, Dalton's Wenger and Loudonville's Vermilya all earned Player of the Year distinction to highlight the area's honorees. All three were first-team All-Ohioans as well, with Vermilya earning Div. III Player of the Year on the girls side.

Northwestern's Brett Alberts, Triway's Zack Miller and Smithville's Carter Piatt joined Rupp as Div. III All-Northeast Inland first-teamers and Dalton's Jack Steiner joined Wenger on the Div. IV first team.

The area produced seven first-team selections in the Div. III girls: Alyssa Geiser, Waynedale; Abby Henegar, Chippewa; Naomi Keib, Smithville; Addesa Miller, Waynedale; Annabel Rodriguez, Chippewa; Caitlin Titler, Triway; Corri Vermilya, Loudonville. Ella Lunsford also got a first-team nod in Div. IV.

Norwayne's Brian West (Div. III boys), Dalton's Justin Greenfelder (Div. IV boys) and Chippewa's Denny Schrock (Div. III girls) all earned Coach of the Year as well.
