Republicans name former Dan Quayle aide to organize 2024 Republican Convention in Milwaukee
Republicans are bringing in an experienced political hand from Indiana to oversee critical operations of the 2024 Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.
Anne Hathaway, a one-time aide to former Vice President Dan Quayle, was named Friday to lead the convention's Committee on Arrangements, the group charged with running the event.
"Anne brings decades of dedicated service to our party, and she is the perfect choice to lead and organize our convention," Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said in a statement.
Hathaway is a member of the Indiana Republican State Central Committee. She runs Indianapolis-based Hathaway Strategies, a public affairs consulting firm. Earlier in her career, she worked at the U.S. Treasury Department and was an assistant to Quayle.
More recently, she served on the Committee on Arrangements from 2019 until 2020 and is currently co-chair of the party's debates committee.
Hathaway will be a familiar face to Milwaukee's convention organizers. She led the site selection committee that picked Milwaukee.
After the city was selected in August 2022, Hathaway told the Journal Sentinel that Milwaukee presented "a broad-based, well-developed bid that was very inclusive."
"It was political," she said. "It was the not-for-profits. It was the business community. The mayor was phenomenal. A unanimous city council. Everybody was on board and couldn't wait to have us in Milwaukee."
Hathaway said Friday that she was "honored to have been chosen" by McDaniel "to execute her vision for an excellent convention in Milwaukee. I look forward to the work ahead that will culminate in the nomination of the next president and vice president of the United States.”

In another key move, Republicans said Ron Kaufman will serve as the convention's General Chairman and will assist Hathaway in planning for the event. He currently serves as the National Committeeman for Massachusetts. He's a former treasurer of the Republican National Committee and chaired the 2020 RNC Convention Site Selection Committee.
The convention will be held July 15-18, 2024. Key venues include Fiserv Forum and the Wisconsin Center. The event is expected to attract up to 50,000 visitors.
Fundraising for the event is being handled by the convention host committee, which is led by Reince Priebus, a former White House chief of staff under ex-President Donald Trump. Steve King is the CEO, Gerard Randall is the secretary and Alison Prange is senior adviser and chief of staff.
The host committee is responsible for things like contracting with the major venues and setting up a transportation system for the convention.
“Our job as the Host Committee is to help provide the RNC with the tools necessary to hold a top-notch convention showcasing Milwaukee to the world," Priebus said. "I’m confident that the RNC appointed great partners for that mission. I congratulate my friends Anne and Ron, and I look forward to working together to ensure that Milwaukee is a world-class host during the 2024 convention.”
