Report: Sean Payton to interview with Cardinals on Thursday

Sean Payton may be viewed by some (or many) as cocky, brash and perhaps a tad bit irritating. But everyone should agree that he’s most definitely a shrewd, shrewd business man.

With a handful of head-coaching vacancies currently open, the 59-year-old is conducting a masterful game of puppet master. Not only is he speaking with the Carolina Panthers and owner David Tepper today, but he’s also lined up a pair of interviews with two other teams in the process.

One, as we touched upon earlier, will be a second meeting with the Denver Broncos—who are viewed as the favorites to land Payton’s services. And now, as first reported by Howard Balzer of PHNX, he’ll be interviewing with the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday.

The Cardinals, who requested a meeting with the Super Bowl champion coach a few weeks ago, will be the fourth team Payton is set to interview with.
