Reaction: Texas A&M basketball lands an impactful two-way guard in top-150 commit Andre Mills
While the men’s college basketball offseason ensues with a plethora of transfer portal moves, Texas A&M made its mark with a key commitment from the Class of 2024. Shooting guard Andre Mills, a top-150 national prospect out of Brimmer and May School, announced his intention to officially join the Aggies.
While Buzz Williams may have put the country on notice with a miraculous turnaround last season, he and the A&M staff just made a splash in landing the No. 25 shooting guard in the Class of 2024.
Mills announced his decision on 247Sports’ YouTube channel with Adam Finkelstein, opting to join the Aggies over the remaining two finalists Iowa and Temple. Check out the special moment in real-time below:

At 6-4 and 185 lbs, Mills becomes the second prospect to commit to the Maroon and White, joining four-star small forward Rob Dockery who announced his decision back in December. He’s coming off a junior season where he was named to the 2022-2023 All-NEPSAC (New England Preparatory School Athletic Council) team for Class AA. The two-way guard was on the Aggies’ radar very early on, and given his length and skillset, it’s easy to see why he’ll be a seamless fit in College Station.
A&M’s 25-10 finish last season was not only highlighted by their ability to attack the basket but also by their tenacity on the defensive end. The Aggies limited their opponents to 66.5 PPG, which ranked 71st in the country. Once Mills gets minutes on the court, his length should make him a key contributor in keeping opposing defenses at bay and keeping that defensive rating secure.
Additionally, when thinking long-term, he should have a great chance to carve out a key role given the fact that Tyrece ‘Boots’ Radford has just one season of eligibility remaining, should he choose to return, while Wade Taylor IV and Manny Obaseki could very well depart as rising seniors by that time.
Once again congratulations to Andre on his commitment, and Gig ’em! We can’t wait to see you in Maroon and White!
