Pro Football Focus ranks Florida State football's Trey Benson as top running back in 2024 Draft class

Florida State football's hype and expectations for the 2023-24 season continue as its top running back earns national recognition.

Pro Football Focus (PFF) ranked Trey Benson as the top running back in the NFL Draft Class of 2024. He edged Michigan's Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards for the top spot.

In his first year with the Seminoles Benson rushed for 1,015 yards, averaging 6.4 yards per carry and scoring nine touchdowns. He also had 192 kick return yards, highlighted by an opening kickoff touchdown in a 44-14 win over Boston College on Sept. 24.

The FSU running back corp gained 2,412 yards and scored 33 touchdowns from 509 attempts. The Seminoles ranked 13th nationally as a rushing offense and were the highest-ranked rushing team in the ACC.

Benson was ranked 13th nationally in rushing yards per carry and was 42nd in rushing yards.

Benson was the most elusive running back according to PFF in 2022. His Elusive Rating of 226.6 trumped the consensus top running back Bijan Robinson’s (169.1), of Texas. Robinson went No. 7 overall to the Atlanta Falcons in the 2023 NFL Draft.

PFF ranked FSU's wide receiver core as the fifth best in the country behind Georgia, Washington, Texas and Ohio State. Last season, FSU ranked 28th nationally in passing offense (270.2 yards per game) and 10th in passing yard completion (249-395 completions).

Quarterback Jordan Travis was ranked by PFF's Top 10 Class of 2024 NFL Draft quarterback rankings.

Redshirt sophomore Shyheim Brown was ranked by PFF as the No. 6 highest-graded safety in the country, earning a 72.7 grade.

2024 signee quarterback Luke Kromenhoek was bumped up to No. 3 in On3's Class of 2024 quarterback rankings, jumping 18 spots. He also made a jump from 45th to 27th in the Class of 2024 overall. He is also in position to earn a five-star rating, currently sitting at four.

Kromenhoek committed to FSU in March over Penn State, Oklahoma, Tennessee and others. He had a top-tier performance at the Elite 11 quarterbacks, completing 3-of-17 passes with three touchdowns in the 7-on-7 portion. He also made an official visit to campus on June 26.

Four-star FSU commit wide receiver Elijah Moore was recognized as a "Big Riser" in the Class of 2024 by On3, as he's now ranked at 108 in his position after not being ranked before. He committed to FSU on July 4 over Ohio State, Florida, and others.
