'We need to pray': Tuloso-Midway, Kingsville postpone football game after coach suffers medical emergency
Friday’s District 16-4A Division I opener between Tuloso-Midway and Kingsville was postponed after a Kingsville junior high coach suffered a medical emergency around an hour before kickoff.
The coach, Marcos Contreras, was transported to Christus Spohn Hospital Shoreline, Kingsville head coach Ruben Garcia said.
Tuloso-Midway coach Kris O’Neal and Garcia confirmed the game will be made up at 7 p.m. Saturday at Tuloso-Midway.
Garcia is asking for prayers as coaches and family awaited the status of Contreras.
“We just have to keep him in our prayers,” Garcia said. “We need to pray for him so that God may do His work.”
The Brahmas enter district play 2-2 and the Warriors (4-0) are one of six unbeaten teams remaining in the Coastal Bend.
