PopStroke, with putting courses designed by Tiger Woods, plans to expand into Tuscaloosa
Tuscaloosa will soon be the site of PopStroke, a golf and entertainment venue featuring putting courses designed by legendary golfer Tiger Woods.
Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox on Thursday welcomed the news of PopStroke coming to the Druid City.
"Proud of Council President (Kip) Tyner and our economic team for all their work on this project," Maddox said in a post on Twitter. "Working beside the property owners/developers, we have no doubt this will be a huge success for our community."
In a Facebook post, Tyner indicated that the new PopStroke would be located in the area he represents on the Tuscaloosa City Council, District 5.

Headquartered in Jupiter, Florida, PopStroke opened its first venue in 2019. In a Wednesday news release, PopStroke said that Tuscaloosa was part of an expansion into 13 new cities.
The Tuscaloosa PopStroke will open by the end of 2023, along with sites in Scottsdale, Arizona; Delray Beach, Florida; and Las Vegas, the news release states.
Each PopStroke features two 18-hole putting courses combined with a full-service restaurant and bar featuring craft beer and wine. The venue includes outdoor dining areas, outdoor games, a playground and an ice cream parlor.

Golfers at PopStroke will be able to download a custom mobile app that will allow them to order drinks and food for delivery anywhere on the courses. The app will showcase players' scores on a digital scoreboard.
Each golfer will also be able to take home a keepsake golf ball designed by the TaylorMade Golf Co., which will also provide premium rental putters for use on the courses.
Woods said in the news release that he was excited to see PopStroke expand into Tuscaloosa, along with other new locations.
"PopStroke continues to use golf to bring families and friends together in a fun, welcoming environment,” Woods said.
On the PopStroke website, Woods says, "Some of my happiest memories are spending time with my pops on the golf course, having putting contests. I'm looking forward to other enjoying time with their kids at PopStroke."
