Police: Reports of gunshots fired at Wyndham Visalia are 'false'

Visalia police arrested a man accused of threatening to hurt people at a west Visalia hotel.

So far, there's no indication anyone was hurt.

Here's what we know.

Around 3:14 p.m. Thursday, officers were called to the Wyndham Visalia, formerly the Holiday Inn, for a report of shots fired. When officers arrived to the hotel on Airport Drive, across from Plaza Park, they searched the building. They quickly started piecing things together and have found no evidence that a weapon was used.

"At this time, there is no evidence of shots being fired," Public Information Officer Liz Jones said.

However, everyone pointed to Adan Lopez, 22, who witnesses said was disturbing people and making threats in the hotel.

Just after 4:15 p.m., police searched Room 247 and found no guns or weapons in the room.

The report came after an argument between Lopez and hotel staff, police said at the scene. Lopez and a woman were separated at the scene, but both were cooperating with police.

Officers later arrested Lopez and booked him into jail on suspicion of making threats. He's being held on $60,000 misdemeanor bail. If he's not released earlier, he will be in court Monday, if prosecutors file charges.
