Gilbert police identified the suspected DUI driver involved in a crash with Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb's son and granddaughter on Friday as 21-year-old Brian Torres.

Officer Levi Leyba, a department spokesperson, told The Arizona Republic that Torres was driving west on Elliot Road when his vehicle struck a red passenger car traveling east and had attempted to make a left-hand turn to go north on Cole Drive.

Cooper Lamb, 22, and his infant daughter were declared dead at the scene. The red passenger vehicle's female driver was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries where she remains hospitalized as of Monday evening.

Leyba said officers evaluated Torres for DUI and arrested him after finding signs of impairment.

"The investigation is still ongoing at this time to determine the most appropriate charges, and a laboratory analysis of Torres's blood is still pending," Leyba said in a statement. "Once the investigation is complete, charges may be referred to the appropriate prosecutor's office."

Leyba said the infant girl was in a rear-facing car seat when the collision occurred.

GoFundMe has been set up for funeral expenses and medical bills to be donated to Mark Lamb and his wife Janel. Mark Lamb told the Republic that in the mean time, he is praying for his son's fiancée and her family.

"We are clinging to our faith in Jesus Christ and each other and although we are sick and devastated we know that we will all be together again someday," Mark Lamb said.
