Police arrest Boise man in string of store robberies. A public tipster is getting $5,000
A 51-year-old Bosie man has been arrested as the suspect in a string of store robberies.
The Boise Police Department last Wednesday offered a $5,000 reward for information about the identity of the man suspected of committing robberies across the city. Police believe he robbed five local convenience stores between May 30 and Sept. 8.
Using tips from the public, detectives investigated and developed evidence against Acea Hood, who was arrested “without incident” on Saturday morning for the crimes, according to a police news release. He was charged with five counts of felony robbery with an enhancement for use of a deadly weapon while committing a felony.
Police are working to get one particular tipster the reward money, according to spokesperson Haley Williams.
“The Boise Police Department would like to thank the community for the numerous tips that were called in regarding this investigation,” said Boise Police Capt. Matt Jones. “It’s collaboration like this, when police continually work together with our community, that makes Boise safer for everyone.”
The suspect wore a mask and was armed with “different types of edged weapons” during each robbery, the release said. He stole money and store merchandise.
In a video released by police, the man was seen entering a Jacksons store while wearing a white mask with eye holes. The suspect was described as being between 5-foot-4 and 5-foot-6, and he had a “unique walk,” according to police.
