Social distancing has forced us to get creative when it comes to hanging out with our friends. Our face-to-face conversations have shifted to Zoom calls and our movie nights have turned into chat room messages on Netflix Party. And now, we just found a way to virtually host game nights as well. Enter PlayingCards.io, where you and your crew can play Cards Against Humanity, Checkers, Crazy Eights, Go Fish, and Match Up, as well as create your own card games.

I don't know about you, but I've never seen Cards Against Humanity offered virtually before. This is pretty epic and sure to keep your crew entertained for hours. The website, which notes (unsurprisingly) that it has been experiencing a higher volume of users recently, allows users to easily set up a virtual game among friends. To play, someone in the group clicks into the game to obtain a game link to send to friends, who click into the game.

Once set up, it feels just like the real version. (Although, we do strongly suggest launching a video call as well, in order to hear everyone's giggles). To start, each player drags their five white cards to the bottom of the screen, where cards can be looked at privately (this is your hand and be sure to replenish it each round unless you’re judging). Then, just as in real life, one player draws a black card, while the other players choose one of their white cards to answer with. The player judging will then move the winning white card to the slot next to the question card. Then everyone can pick a new white card and let the next round begin. As a refresher, the white cards often contain nouns that you probably wouldn’t want to discuss at the dinner table. When paired with the black cards, which also include inappropriate references, it really makes for some wild games, and opens your eyes to which of your friends have super dirty minds.

If you’re looking for a wild game to play with friends while social distancing, this is it. The virtual version really plays like the game in real life. And for when quarantine ends, there's this fun Friends version of the game to play, too.
