A pink tie anything from blush to magenta was the accessory du jour as the Pink Tie Guys gathered for a kickoff reception.

The Pink Tie Guys are the local men who support women battling breast and cervical cancer through their support of the Promise Fund of Florida. Membership brings the deep spiritual satisfaction of doing the right thing ... and a pink tie from Brioni.

Sherry Endelson, Paulette Koch and Diane Sculley were chairwomen for the event, which took place Dec. 12 at Club Colette and included cocktails, hors 'oeuvres, music and brief remarks from board member Dr. David Dodson.

Dodson introduced Promise Fund founder Nancy Brinker, who reported that within its almost five years of operation, Promise Fund has helped more than 20,000 under-resourced women in Palm Beach County with screenings, treatment and navigating the health care system.

Ken Endelson and John Sculley were chairmen for the evening, which also served as a launch for the fundraising season.

The major events include the annual January Pink Bridge Lighting and the ''Pink Boots on the Ground'' celebration; and the major donor dinner and award celebration, which will take place March 13 at Club Colette.

More than 100 people attended the reception.
