Pedestrian killed on I-17 near Sunset Point after jumping off moving bus

A pedestrian was struck and killed Tuesday morning after jumping out of a moving bus onto Interstate 17 near Sunset Point.

Bart Graves, spokesperson for the Arizona Department of Public Safety, said around 5:30 a.m. the man was onboard a Greyhound bus when he opened the emergency hatch in one of the windows and jumped out of the moving bus.

He was acting irrationally in the bus, Graves said.

The man was struck several times by passing vehicles in the southbound lanes of the freeway and was pronounced dead on scene.
