Paulina Porizkova says 'family is what is most important' in post from stepson's wedding
Paulina Porizkova is showing her family some love.
The 57-year-old shared an Instagram Reel on Wednesday of some clips she took at her stepson Derek Ocasek's wedding over the weekend. Porizkova included several touching photos and clips in the video, such as a picture of a silly family tradition, shots of some teary-eyed guests and snaps of herself with the bride and groom.
For the wedding, Porizkova wore a forest green ankle-length gown with flats, while letting her middle-parted hair fall over her shoulders.
The Swedish model captured Derek's first dance with his new wife, Madison, where they chose to dance to a cover of "Stand By Me." Porizkova also shot a clip of the mother-son dance — to "In My Life" by The Beatles — Derek shared with his biological mother, Suzanne Ocasek, who was married to Ric Ocasek between 1971 and 1988.
"My weekend — in between the book tour — was attending my youngest stepson Derek's wedding in Austin, Texas," Porizkova, who's currently on tour for her new book, "No Filter," wrote in her caption. "What joy to see him so happy. And what an amazing wedding, so filled with love all around. We all cried through the entire ceremony (officiated by my brother, Kym) and then danced our heads off for the next five hours. My family is what is most important to me in the world, and we've just added a new member, Madison, and her entire family. Blessed, grateful, exhausted with sore feet and couldn't be happier."
In the comments, fans shared their best wishes for the newly-wed couple.
"Families loving and bonding and evolving, embracing collective ceremony — it's important for us as humans. It's the stuff that makes life worth living," someone commented. "Cheers and congratulations to the happy couple and their families."
"What a beautiful evening!! So much love and beautiful emotion joined together in this venue of celebration," one fan penned.
"Love her gown," another shared, mentioning Madison's poofy white wedding dress. "They look so happy. Best wishes to the bride and groom."
"Congratulations to the newlyweds, I'm really impressed by the excellent relationship you have with Ric's children, but especially with his ex-wife, congratulations!" someone praised, while Porizkova replied saying, "That's mostly her doing and her graciousness."
Porizkova was married to Ric Ocasek between 1989 and 2019, until the Cars frontman died of heart disease worsened by emphysema. However, Porizkova announced on Instagram in 2018 that the couple had been "peacefully separated" for the past year.
Porizkova and Ric share two sons, Jonathan Ocasek, 29, and Oliver Ocasek, 24. In November, Porizkova shared that she received a sweet and encouraging message from both sons.
During an episode of "Red Table Talk," Jada Pinkett Smith told Porizkova she had gotten a "surprise" from her two sons.
"One of the most important things that my mom taught me over the years is that it is actually possible to reinvent yourself," Oliver said in the message. "It's a long road between being some hot chick on the cover of a magazine and being an intellectual who is actually talking about some of the real problems behind aging. And just the fact that she has managed to do that is astounding to me."
His brother, Jonathan, chimed in to reveal that the most important advice he received from his mom is to always reach his full potential.
"She puts her heart and soul into everything she does," Jonathan shared. "In terms of this book, I learned a lot about my mother, who was dealing with this great tragedy internally. And how she was trying to heal from this terrible time and to see a path forward."
