The Carolina Panthers already got themselves one pretty popular purple player. So, can they make it two?

Chris Rosvoglou of Sports Illustrated’s The Spun seems to think so, naming them as one of five teams he believes should make a move for Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook. Rosvoglou opines that the four-time Pro Bowler would make the Panthers’ backfield twice as sweet:

The Panthers have a rookie quarterback in Bryce Young and over $27 million in cap space. While the front office did invest a large sum of money in Miles Sanders, that shouldn’t deter them from pursuing Dalvin Cook.

A one-two punch of Cook and Sanders could potentially lead the Panthers to a division title, especially since the NFC South is there for the taking.

Cook, who is very unlikely to remain in Minnesota much longer, is one heck of weapon. Is that weapon, however, worth the potential purchase?

Carolina inked the aforementioned Sanders to a relatively weighty deal this offseason. The fifth-year running back is set to rake in a four-year, $25.4 million pact with guarantees totaling $13 million.

Would the Panthers really be interested in investing even more into a position that generally isn’t invested in anymore? Would they really want to part with more draft picks and/or more money to add to a spot that isn’t much of a priority at the moment?

Well, if they do, maybe they can enlist the recruiting skills of Adam Thielen to help get his old pal over.
