Pamela Anderson Totally Embraces the Hilarious Side of Aging & Opened Up About Her ‘Funny’ Look
The phrase “aging gracefully” can sometimes feel like a loaded term — especially for those who challenge societal norms on the regular like Pamela Anderson. The Baywatch star is wildly aware of this, which is why she is taking a humorous approach towards pretty much everything in life, especially her appearance, as she grows older.
The bombshell’s signature ’90s look included a lot of heavy makeup (and her iconic red swimsuit), but she didn’t have much say when it came to her appearance during that time, either. “I just went along with what people were telling me what to do,” she explained. After her makeup artist, Alexis Vogel, passed away after battling breast cancer in 2019, Anderson slowly but surely moved away from the heavier makeup in favor of a more natural look.

The Love, Pamela author explained how her signature style has always made her feel like something of “an outsider” and was somewhat nervous when she was approached by Canadian fashion brand Aritzia to collaborate on a campaign for office-wear. She opted to go for a stripped-down, makeup free look, explaining that it felt “freeing, and fun, and a little rebellious too.”
“Because I did notice that there were all these people doing big makeup looks, and it’s just like me to go against the grain and do the opposite what everyone’s doing,”she explained in her latest interview with Elle of the switch-up, adding that “I think we all start looking a little funny when we get older. And I’m kind of laughing at myself when I look at the mirror. I go, ‘Wow, this is really…what’s happening to me?’ It’s a journey.”

This isn’t the first time Anderson has talked about her thoughts on aging. Back in January, the 56-year-old actress told Dax Shepard on his Armchair Expert podcast that she “can’t wait to see myself old,” adding, “I want to let my hair go kind of natural gray, put my little straw hat on, don’t wear makeup. I mean, that’s my comfortable kind of state.”
We love that Anderson is not just embracing aging, but doing it on her own terms as well.
