Pacers tank targets: Swoon over Victor Wembanyama and Scoot Henderson highlights
Sure, if the stars align and hell freezes over, the Pacers could make the NBA playoffs this season. It's the preseason. Hope spring eternal. Anything is possible.
But let's be realistic. That seems highly unlikely at this point. The best option for Pacers fans? Embrace the tank. The reward could be franchise-altering.
The consensus No. 1 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft is Victor Wembanyama, the 7-4 freak from France with an 8-foot wingspan. NBA Draft Room says, "The only question mark is whether he can stay healthy. If he does he’ll be an all time great." He's compared to Kristaps Porzingis (only better) and is a "faster Rik Smits."

OK, but what if the ping pong balls don't fall in the Pacers' favor and they get the No. 2 pick instead of No. 1? Meet Scoot Henderson. He also put on a show Tuesday night, scoring 28 points with nine assists and five rebounds.

28 points, 9 assists, 5 rebounds for projected No. 2 pick Scoot Henderson in G League Ignite's win over Metropolitans 92. Got where he wanted, made some terrific reads, and shot the ball well inside and outside the arc. Every bit the top prospect he's billed as. pic.twitter.com/Wtx2nIoFpj

Judging by these highlights, it looks like Henderson might give Wembanyama some trouble defensively. The Pacers better be safe and figure out a way to draft them both.
