INDIANAPOLIS — The Pacers will be without their two best players Thursday night against the Rockets at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Two-time All-Star Domantas Sabonis and starting point guard Malcolm Brogdon are sidelined with right calf and right Achillies injuries, respectively, per Indiana coach Rick Carlisle.

Brogdon missed the Pacers' home win over Detroit on Dec. 16 due to a sore right Achillies and returned to the starting lineup Tuesday at Miami. However, he totaled one point in eight minutes before being ruled out for the rest of the game with the same injury.

Sabonis recorded 12 points, four assists and a season-low four rebounds against the Heat.

Brogdon was listed as questionable on Indiana's injury report prior to Thursday's contest, while Sabonis' injury wasn't disclosed until Carlisle's pregame news conference.

"(Sabonis) was kicked in the right calf during the Detroit game," Carlisle said. "The four-day break allowed him an opportunity to get treatment. He eventually came back and practiced the fourth day, the day we traveled to Miami. Appeared to get through the game OK then he was stiff (Wednesday) and he's just gonna be unable to go (Thursday)."

Sabonis has 23 double-doubles and is averaging 18.1 points, 11.6 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game this season.

Brogdon is averaging a team-high 19.0 points, 6.2 assists and 5.3 rebounds. He had "favorable" scans on his right Achilles, according to Carlisle.

"The hope is that it's not a long-term thing," Carlisle said of both injuries. " ... We're hoping that this thing can get knocked out in the next several days and we'll see what's what."
