Only Murders in the Building season 3 suspects: who killed Ben Glenroy?
NOTE: this post contains spoilers for Only Murders in the Building season 3.
Charles, (Steve Martin), Mabel (Selena Gomez) and Oliver (Martin Short) are back on the case, as Only Murders in the Building season 3 is underway. The mystery they are trying to solve: who killed Ben Glenroy (Paul Rudd), Hollywood A-lister and star of Oliver's new Broadway play?
After Only Murders in the Building season 2 ended with Ben collapsing on stage, season 3 episode 1 revealed Ben didn't officially kick the bucket on stage, but he didn't last much longer, falling down the Arconia elevator shaft to his death. With Ben officially having died in the building, our beloved podcasters begin the hunt for his killer in earnest.
We're going to keep a running list of who may have killed Ben Glenroy throughout the season, updating our prime suspects, people of interest and who has been proven innocent. Check out our initial lineup after the first three episodes.
Prime Suspects
Dickie & Loretta
Dickie (Jeremy Shamos) and Loretta (Meryl Streep) may have been out of sight in Only Murders in the Building season 3 episode 4, but they are not out of mind. They still top our list of potential suspects, as one previous person of interest is pretty much proven innocent and a new potential killer seems to obvious to be the killer in the end. We'll place our bets on the possibly disgruntled manager/brother and his new client as the killers for now.
Tobert
Tobert (Jesse Williams) was also MIA in the latest episode, so that neither helps nor hurts his case. He attempted to make sure he got a key piece of evidence in the footage for Ben’s dressing room, which leads us to wonder why?
Howard
Our dark horse theory remains in effect because there's nothing to exonerate Howard (Michael Cyril Creighton) yet. Of course there may never be anything that further moves him up this list either. His reaction to Mabel talking about her sweaters just made us love Howard more, so it’s not that we want Howard to be the murderer, it's just that the potential twist of it would be so good we don't want to discredit it.
Persons of Interest
Joy
Much like Kimber (Ashley Park) last week, we're pretty confident Joy (Andrea Martin) is just an early distraction for our trio and has no real chance of being the killer, but we now have to include her here until she is officially cleared. The fact that she readily admitted it was her lipstick, seemingly catching her red handed (pun intended), is too easy to be the end result.
Donna
Looks like Donna finally did head out of town after episode 3. If she is gone for an extended amount of time, she will likely go tumbling down our rankings, but for now, she is still a key person of interest.
Bobo, Jonathan & Ty
We're going to group these three together as they're all just kind of floating around so far this season. However, both Bobo (Don Darryl Rivera) and Jonathan (Jason Veasey) admitted to having visited the White Room. Is it possible in such a state they could be responsible for killing Ben?
KT
Until KT (Allison Guinn) pops back up again, absent since episode 2 despite the fact our trio went back to the theater in episode 4, she is going to take up the bottom of our suspect list.
Cliff
Like last week, we're just waiting for something concrete to rule Cliff (Wesley Taylor) out of our suspects list, but that didn't come this week as we, like Donna, was not around in episode 4.
Proven Innocent
Kimber
Kimber was counting on Ben to support her anti-aging cream, which is just vaseline and soda (not poison) and her admitting that she sold the hankie on eBay, pretty much removes her from the suspect list barring a major late-season twist.
Greg
While Greg is guilty of kidnapping Charles and Mabel, he is not guilty of Ben's murder, as the overzealous fan desperately wants to catch Ben's killer.
