Ole Miss football coach Lane Kiffin takes in Mississippi high school football 3A title game

HATTIESBURG — Ole Miss football coach Lane Kiffin made the trip from Oxford to take in the Mississippi high school football 3A title game between Raleigh and Noxubee County at Southern Miss' M.M. Roberts Stadium on Friday.

Kiffin was likely there to see Ole Miss commit Suntarine Perkins, the top player in the state of Mississippi in the Class of 2023.

Perkins, playing for Raleigh, opened the scoring with a 74-yard touchdown run. He had found the end zone twice and racked up 163 yards on the ground when the first half came to a conclusion.

Listed as a linebacker by 247Sports, Perkins recently cast some doubt about whether he would sign with the Rebels. He's also a priority target for Alabama.

"My top schools are Ole Miss and Alabama," Perkins told The Clarion Ledger in November.

Kiffin was treated to an entertaining show in Hattiesburg. Noxubee County led Raleigh 32-31 at halftime.

After finishing the season with three consecutive losses and an 8-4 record, Kiffin's Rebels are awaiting their bowl destination, which will be announced officially on Sunday.
