Oklahoma State football player Arland Bruce IV named in Iowa gambling probe

STILLWATER — Oklahoma State football player Arland Bruce IV, who transferred from Iowa in January, has been named in the investigation into gambling by Hawkeye players during the 2022 football season.

A criminal complaint filed by the Johnson County Attorney's Office alleges that Bruce placed bets on 11 Hawkeye games in which he participated, according to the Des Moines Register.

“We are aware and are continuing to gather information,” an OSU official told The Oklahoman. “We are not to the point of being able to comment yet.”

Bruce is one of four players named in the case. He specifically is accused of using a DraftKings account to place bets before he turned 21, the legal gambling age in Iowa. Bruce completed 132 sports wagers totaling $4,342, the complaint stated.

The documents specifically allege Bruce placed two bets of “under total points,” one of which was a game against Northwestern in which he participated, and another in the Music City Bowl against Kentucky in which he did not participate.

Bruce, a 5-foot-10, 200-pound inside receiver, played the past two seasons at Iowa, where he was used as a running back and receiver. He caught 44 passes and rushed the ball 22 times for a combined total of 508 yards with six touchdowns.

Bruce is classified as a junior, though the gambling accusations could threaten his collegiate eligibility.
