Oakland Mall in Troy has a new owner.

Real estate investor Mario Kiezi announced Monday that he has purchased the giant 1.5 million-square-foot shopping mall near Interstate 75.

Kiezi is scheduled to share details about why he bought the mall and his future remodeling plans at 2 p.m. Monday.

The mall dates to 1968 and its anchor stores are Macy's, JC Penney, Dick's Sporting Goods and At Home.

His firm, MKiezi Investments, last year also bought the former Sears store at the mall.

He also owns a Midtown Detroit building on Woodward that houses the former Union Street restaurant and Midtown Liquor & Deli and that has tried to attract a grocery store tenant.
