North Carolina women’s basketball guard Alyssa Ustby makes history in the season opener
The UNC women’s basketball program kicked off its season last night in a big way, defeating Jackson State University 91-59. In the massive win, North Carolina’s Alyssa Ustby made history in under 20 minutes of playing time.
According to StatsPerform, in the last 15 years, Ustby is the only player in NBA, WNBA, or Division 1 men’s and women’s basketball to produce a stat line of 15+ points, 10+ rebounds, 5+ assists, 2+ blocks, and 2+ steals in a game while playing under 20 minutes.
Ustby flourished in the season opener, finishing with 19 points, ten rebounds, five assists, three blocks, and two steals in 19 minutes. The impressive outing is not new territory for the Junior, as she was critical to North Carolina’s success last year.

If Ustby can continue to the fill stat sheets like this, then UNC has a good shot at delivering one of their best seasons to date.
