NJ Transit train fatally strikes pedestrian in Far Hills

FAR HILLS – A pedestrian was fatally struck near the Far Hills train station late Wednesday.

The victim’s identity has not yet been released.

Around 11 p.m. Wednesday, Gladstone Branch Train 440, which departed Gladstone at 10:49 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Hoboken at 12:22 a.m., struck and fatally injured a pedestrian west of the Far Hills station, according to NJ Transit.

The three customers and crew members on board the train were not injured, NJ Transit said.

The Gladstone Branch was temporarily suspended between Bernardsville and Gladstone. Service has since resumed. An investigation is being conducted by New Jersey Transit Police.
