NFL Thanksgiving Day Picks, Lineup Tips for Daily Fantasy FanDuel, DraftKings
Thanksgiving Day has arrived, and what better way to spend the holiday than by watching three straight NFL games? Especially considering this year's slate should provide a trio of entertaining matchups.
First, the Buffalo Bills and Detroit Lions face off in what could be a high-scoring affair. The middle contest is an NFC East matchup between the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys, which are both 7-3. And the New England Patriots and Minnesota Vikings wrap up the action in what should be a competitive game.
Don't have any players from your fantasy football lineup taking the field? Then maybe now is a good time to dive into daily fantasy, as a strong performance on either DraftKings or FanDuel could make Thanksgiving even more enjoyable.
So, here's some DFS lineup advice to help you pick the best players from Thursday's three-game slate.
CeeDee Lamb had one of his best showings of the season when the Cowboys played the Giants on the road in Week 3.
The 23-year-old wide receiver had eight catches for 87 yards and a touchdown to help lead Dallas to victory. And that was when the team had Cooper Rush starting at quarterback.
With Dak Prescott in position for Thursday's matchup against New York, Lamb may have an even better performance. He's had plenty of success getting into the end zone of late, having scored three touchdowns over the Cowboys' past three games.
So, a good place to start when building your DFS lineup for Thanksgiving is to construct a stack of Prescott ($6,200 on DraftKings; $8,000 on FanDuel) and Lamb ($7,100 on DraftKings; $7,900 on FanDuel). Both are among the higher-priced options at their position, but they should make the cost worth it.
Lamb may even be a good pick for captain/MVP in your lineup. He should rise to the occasion in prime time and again fare well against the Giants, which will also lead to a strong DFS performance from Prescott.
At the price Devin Singletary is listed at in DFS this week ($5,700 on DraftKings; $6,900 on FanDuel), the Buffalo Bills running back is a must-start player.
The 25-year-old should greatly outperform that price, as he has a great matchup for Thursday's game.
Detroit is allowing 153.7 rushing yards per game, the second-most in the NFL this season. It's also likely Buffalo will take an early lead in the matchup. And that will lead to plenty of work for Singletary, who should have no trouble getting through the Lions' defense.
The Florida Atlantic product has been on a roll of late. After scoring no rushing touchdowns through the first nine weeks of the season, he's recorded three over the Bills' past two games. He also had a season-high 86 rushing yards in the Week 11 win over the Browns.
It seems close to a sure thing that Singletary will have at least a solid performance on Thursday. That makes it an easy decision to spend the affordable price to get him in the lineup.
The Patriots' defense has a ton of momentum after holding the New York Jets to three points and 103 total yards in a Week 11 win. Meanwhile, the Vikings are coming off a loss in which they scored only three points and compiled 183 yards against the Cowboys.
If both units play like that again Thursday, then New England's defense will get the best of Minnesota's offense. It's also a prime-time night game, which Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins has struggled in throughout his NFL career.
Plus, the Pats are making it tough on every team this season. They rank fourth in the league in total yards allowed per game (302.8), tied for fourth in interceptions (11) and second in sacks (36). Even if Minnesota's offense has some solid drives, the New England defense is likely to make several big plays during the game.
With the Patriots' DST coming in at an affordable price ($3,000 on DraftKings; $4,200 on FanDuel), it's worth taking a chance on it to keep its momentum going.
It's not the best matchup, but there are reasons to believe New England will excel on that side of the ball.
