One of the best high school prospects to come through southwest Missouri in recent years is headed to the NFL.
Former Kickapoo standout Travis Vokolek is reportedly signing an undrafted free agent deal with the Baltimore Ravens following the 2023 NFL Draft. He has spent the last four years at Nebraska after transferring from Rutgers.
Vokolek was a three-star recruit at Kickapoo where he was a Class 6 all-state selection on defense as a senior while recording 90 tackles in addition to catching 17 passes for 205 yards and a pair of scores. He made 82 tackles as a junior while leading the Chiefs to the state semifinals. He also participated in basketball and track with the Chiefs.
Vokolek was last listed as a 6-foot-7, 260-pound tight end at Nebraska where he played in 10 games this past season with nine starts. He set career highs with 20 catches, 240 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Over his three-year playing career with the Cornhuskers, he caught 40 passes for 458 yards and two scores. He played in 19 games in his two seasons at Rutgers where he caught 17 passes for 198 yards and two touchdowns.
Vokolek is the son of D.J. Vokolek who served on the Missouri State coaching staff under Travis' uncle, Terry Allen, who was the Missouri State head coach from 2006-14.
