Neighbours' Annie Jones urged two show legends to return for anniversary
Neighbours star Annie Jones has revealed that she tried to get Jason Donovan and Guy Pearce back on Ramsay Street for the show's 35th anniversary.
In an interview with Radio Times, Annie – who recently reprised her role of Jane Harris – said that she and Paul Robinson actor Stefan Dennis met up with Jason and Guy not long ago and broached the subject.
But the former regulars, who played Scott Robinson and Mike Young respectively, both couldn't do it.
"Stefan Dennis and I caught up with Jason Donovan and Guy Pearce when we were all in the UK a while ago," she said. "We tried to persuade them to do it, but they are both so darn busy!
"Jason has been in Melbourne doing Chicago on stage. I'm pretty sure Guy is in Amsterdam or somewhere exotic making a movie.
"So the stars didn't line up in this instance, but you never know. I'm sure they'd love to if they could make it work and they happened to be in Australia at the right time. I'll keep trying!"
Earlier this year, Jason swung by the Ramsay Street set, visiting his daughter Jemma Donovan who plays Harlow Robinson.
This week, filming was temporarily suspended when one person working on the show came into close contact with someone who recently tested positive for COVID-19.
Production has since resumed, although a spokesperson for Neighbours added that there will be "very strict protocols in place" amid the coronavirus outbreak.
Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5 (UK) and 6.30pm on 10 Peach (Australia).
