National Night Out block party winners announced

The Shreveport Mayors office announced Monday afternoon the 2021 National Night Out block party winners.

13 block parties were selected by the judging committee:

  • Pam Morgan

  • Lynda Rowland

  • Camille Tharpe

On Oct. 5, Shreveport took part in the annual National Night Out event that works to combat crime and drugs in communities, by bringing people together.

It is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for crime prevention efforts, strengthen police-community partnerships and send a clear message that neighbors are organizing and fighting back against crime.

This year the Shreveport Mayor's office, Shreveport Police, Shreveport Fire and Community Renewal worked with community organizations to get more than 150 groups registered for National Night Out.

On Tuesday, the Community Renewal will be hosting an appreciation event at 11:45 a.m. at the Mount Canaan Baptist Church, Norma J. Blake Community Center.
