Mosquito Fire Prompts Evacuations in California's Placer County

Evacuation orders were issued in California’s Placer County as a wildfire continued to grow in the area on Wednesday, September 7, officials said.

Footage posted by Tahoe National Forest shows fire crews battling the fire at the Oxbow Reservoir on Tuesday afternoon.

On Tuesday evening, Placer County Sheriff’s Office said no structures were being threatened.

By Wednesday morning, the Mosquito Fire burned almost 1,000 acres and was zero percent contained, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE). Credit: Tahoe National Forest via Storyful
