Juniors Leah Macy and Alyssa Murphy, leaders of the Mercy Academy basketball program that won the Sixth Region title last season, have left the program.

Mercy athletic director Angela Passafiume confirmed Wednesday that Macy and Murphy are not enrolled at the school.

Macy, a 6-foot-2 forward, averaged 25 points and 13.2 rebounds last season and was a member of The Courier Journal’s All-State first team for the second straight season. She ranked fourth in the state in rebounding, sixth in scoring and seventh in field-goal shooting (61.4%).

Macy is the nation’s No. 11-ranked recruit in the Class of 2025, according to ESPN’s HoopGurlz rankings, and has scholarship offers from more than 20 NCAA Division I programs.

Stephanie Swartz Macy, Leah’s mother, declined Wednesday to confirm where her daughter would play high school basketball during the 2023-24 season.

Macy joined the Elizabethtown High School program as a seventh-grader and played two seasons there before heading to Mercy for her freshman season. In four seasons of varsity play, she has 2,027 points and 1,197 rebounds.

Macy’s younger sister, Loren, is a 5-9 freshman who also plays basketball.

According to Jeremy Murphy, Alyssa’s father, she has enrolled at Corydon Central in Indiana but will not play basketball during the 2023-24 season after suffering a torn ACL this summer. She had surgery seven weeks ago.

Murphy, a 5-5 point guard, averaged 13.4 points and 4.0 rebounds and shot 31.6% (43 of 136) from 3-point range last season. A knee injury kept her from playing in the state tournament.

A first-team All-Sixth Region selection, Murphy has scholarship offers from Buffalo, Miami (Ohio) and Murray State.

Passafiume also confirmed 5-7 sophomore guard Keziah Renee has left Mercy. Renee (2.8 ppg, 1.8 rpg) was limited to 13 games last season because of an ankle injury. According to her Twitter account, Renee now is at Jeffersonville (Indiana) High School.

Mercy finished 25-10 last season after winning its first Sixth Region title since 2019. The Jaguars lost to Henderson County 63-59 in the quarterfinals of the Sweet 16.
