Memphis Grizzlies, John Konchar agree to three-year contract extension
The Memphis Grizzlies signed guard John Konchar to a three-year, $19 million contract extension, according to ESPN.
Konchar, who has two years left on his current contract, is now signed through the 2026-27 season. The contract shows that the Grizzlies plan on making the 6-foot-5 guard a bigger part of the rotation going forward.
The Grizzlies traded De’Anthony Melton for the No. 23 pick in 2022 NBA Draft, which became David Roddy. That move opened up a roster spot at shooting guard, which Konchar may fill.

Konchar averaged 4.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and shot 41.3% from 3-point range in 17.9 minutes last season. He’s played three seasons with the Grizzlies after going undrafted out of Purdue-Fort Wayne.
Shooting and rebounding have been two of Konchar’s strengths. One of his best games this season came when the Grizzlies defeated the Timberwolves 116-108 in January. Konchar had 15 points and 17 rebounds off the bench. Teammates mobbed Konchar after the game to celebrate.
He also recorded a triple-double in the final game of the regular season against the Boston Celtics.
Konchar, 26, has become a trusted member of the rotation for Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins. He played minutes as a backup point guard this season, and he also took on tough defensive assignments.
