Meghan Trainor Issues Apology for Controversial Comments Bashing Teachers
Meghan Trainor is doubling back on some recent comments she made in regards to teachers.
The pop singer posted a social media video apologizing for her "careless" comments, further providing an explanation as to why she made the polarizing remarks in the first place.
"Teachers of TikTok and teachers of the world," she addressed the video, as she continued to get straight to the point: "I recently said 'F teachers' on a podcast, and it's not how I feel."
The "Made You Look" singer landed herself in hot water after the April 19 episode of her “Workin’ On It” podcast, where she initially made the insensitive comment while the topic of gun violence in schools was being addressed.
“I was fired up because we were talking about how sending your kid to school here in America is so horrific,” Trainor continued to explain in her apology snippet. The songstress also went on to say both she and her husband Daryl Sabara had been bullied by educators in the past.
"So in the heat of the moment, I got angry and said, ‘F teachers.' F those specific human beings back in the day, but I did not mean that to all teachers,” she explained. “I love teachers; I fight for teachers. I think they have the hardest job and they are the most underpaid. They are the most under-appreciated when they literally raise all of us. I don’t want to make excuses."
“I am so sorry to any teachers I made feel bad and I will remind myself that my words definitely have a consequence and I will be more more careful,” the 29-year-old added.

The Mother artist—who shares son Riley, 2, with Sabara, and is currently pregnant with the couple's second baby—previously said her children would be homeschooled. "Everyone on TikTok is like, 'This is what it’s like having kids in America. I have a bulletproof backpack.' I was like, 'f--k all that,'" she expressed in the podcast episode, later adding, "F--k teachers, dude."
In the comments of the regretful video clip, some fans rallied around her, while others—some of which are teachers themselves—demanded respect, at the very least.
"Can you share specifically what you are doing to advocate for teachers?" one questioned, while another matter-of-factly lamented, "I'm exhausted by the disrespect."
Another brought their own personal experience into the conversation and summed the situation up well, writing, "Some of us teachers were also bullied by teachers growing up. Which is a big reason why many of us choose to become teachers."
