More often than not, some of our favorite buys are small, how-didn’t-I-know-about-this products that solve an everyday problem. That’s what we’re highlighting in our Little Lifesavers series: cheap, simple purchases that you’ll use on the daily. Hit “Add to Cart” and thank us later!

Problem: My eyebrows are still recovering from the pluck-happy days of my youth.

Solution: The Essence Make Me Brow Eyebrow Gel effectively fills them in, and it's an under-$5 steal.

These days, my makeup routine is pretty minimal, to say the least. In the continual process of refining the routine of my indoors-only life for the time being, I've pared down my products to just the ones that feel good to use each day. The concealer is out of commission. The heat-styling tools are on hiatus. But the brow gel is going nowhere. I feel more like myself when I wear it.

The Essence Make Me Brow Eyebrow Gel perfectly defines and tints my brows, and with its $3 price tag, it's the best value of my entire beauty arsenal.

The Make Me Brow brush looks like a very small mascara wand. Its formula comprises both tinted gel and tiny fibers that attach onto your brows, tinting and slightly elongating them at the same time. It fills in patchiness just as effectively as a brow pencil would, without being too severe.

This gel feels impossible to overuse, and it washes off with any cleanser. Each day, I do a few swipes on each brow to add definition, and that's the extent of it.

The only brow product that comes close to this one in terms of simplicity and efficacy is Glossier's Boy Brow, which I regularly used before I made the swap. While Boy Brow has fantastic, rich pigment and impressive staying power, the tube holds slightly less product, it has a smaller applicator wand, and at $16, it's more expensive. I found myself using up those tubes in no time, while Make Me Brow buys me at least another month of wear at a fraction of the cost.

Applying a few swipes of the Make Me Brow gel each morning is a simple act that signifies the start of my day. Even if I'm just doing it for me (or to look a little more polished for my Zoom catch-ups each night), I'm happy that something so simple and affordable is able to make me feel a lot more put-together.
