Meet the Notre Dame Football 2022 recruiting class

The following 21 senior football prospects are expected to sign National Letters of Intent on Wednesday with Notre Dame. The Irish are hoping to add at least one more prospect to the class for the early signing period. Photos are courtesy of Rivals.com.

QB Steve Angeli

► Basics: 6-3, 210; Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic

► Rivals ranking: Three stars, No. 21 pro-style QB.

► 247Sports ranking: Three stars, No. 37 QB.

► Notable numbers: The first-team all-state selection completed 68.2% of his passes (116-of-170) for 1,709 yards and 15 TDs with two interceptions for the 12-0 New Jersey Non-Public A state champs. Angeli rushed for 228 yards on 57 carries and three TDs.

DB Jayden Bellamy

► Basics: 5-11, 170; Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic

► Rivals ranking: Three stars, No. 46 CB.

► Notable numbers: Collected 27 tackles, made four interceptions and broke up three passes as state champ Bergen Catholic (12-0) notched its first perfect season since 1998. On offense, Bellamy had eight receptions for 157 yards and had his lone TD reception in the 28-7 state title victory over Don Bosco Prep. Two-time all-state selection.

LB Joshua Burnham

► Basics: 6-4, 225; Traverse City (Mich.) Central

► Rivals ranking: Four stars, No. 4 ILB, No. 163 overall.

► Notable numbers: Michigan High School Player of the Year by both Gatorade and the MLive Media Group. Burnham led Traverse City Central to a 12-1 record and Division 2 state runner-up finish while standing out on both sides of the ball. As a linebacker, Burnham recorded 76 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, three pass breakups and two interceptions. As Central’s quarterback, Burnham rushed for 1,515 yards and 29 TDs and threw for 963 yards and 14 touchdowns with four interceptions.

OT Ty Chan

► Basics: 6-6, 300; Groton (Mass.) Lawrence Academy

► Rivals ranking: Four stars, No. 11 OT, No. 111 overall.

► 247Sports ranking: Four stars, No. 13 OT, No. 128 overall.

► Notable numbers: Led Lawrence Academy to a 6-3 record. Named 2021 ISL and NEPSAC Lineman of the Year. Chan was named to the 2021 All-NEPSAC first team.

OL Ashton Craig

► Basics: 6-4, 274; Lawrenceburg (Ind.) High

► Rivals ranking: Three stars, No. 63 OT.

► 247Sports ranking: Four stars, No. 26 OT.

► Notable numbers: Led Lawrenceburg to an 11-2 record and a regional championship appearance. Earned all-state honors and was named 2021 Mr. Football Offensive Line in Indiana.

DE Tyson Ford

► Basics: 6-4, 269; St. Louis John Burroughs School

► Rivals ranking: Four stars, No. 9 SDE, No. 105 overall.

► Notable numbers: Played in eight of John Burroughs’ 10 games, and totaled 58 tackles, 19 tackles for loss with 11 sacks. Two-team all-state selection and first-team academic all-state.

DE Aiden Gobaira

► Basics: 6-5, 230; Chantilly (Va.) High

► Rivals ranking: Four stars, No. 11 WDE, No. 207 overall.

► Notable numbers: Finished the 2021 spring season with 16 sacks in eight games. 2021 Maxwell Football Club’s National High School Defensive Player of the Year Award semifinalist.

DT Donovan Hinish

► Basics: 6-2, 268; Pittsburgh Central Catholic

► Rivals ranking: Three stars, No. 44 DT.

► 247Sports ranking: Three stars, No. 76 DL.

► Notable numbers: Credited with 47 tackles and eight sacks for the WPIAL runners-up (9-3). Scored two touchdowns — one on a fumble recovery, the other on a 32-yard pass reception on a fake field goal. Led Central Catholic to back-to-back WPIAL titles as an underclassman.

P Bryce McFerson

► Basics: 6-1, 175; Indian Trail (N.C.) Metrolina Christian

► Rivals ranking: Two stars.

► Notable numbers: The No. 1 punter nationally in his class, per Chris Sailer Kicking, McFerson averaged 46.0 yards per punt on 24 punts in 2021 for Metrolina (10-2). He added nearly seven yards to his average over his junior season. He was 6-of-12 on field goals, with a long of 47 yards, and connected on all 43 of his PAT attempts. McFerson also kicked off for Metrolina, with 63 touchbacks on 67 kickoffs.

WR Tobias Merriweather

► Basics: 6-4,188; Camas (Wash.) Union

► Rivals ranking: Four stars, No. 25 WR, No. 167 overall.

► 247Sports ranking: Four stars, No. 11 WR, No. 79 overall.

► Notable numbers: Played in seven of nine games for Union (6-3). Caught 31 passes for 478 yards and three TDs and rushed for 22 yards on five carries and a score. On defense, Merriweather amassed four interceptions, seven pass breakups, and 18 tackles, with a tackle for loss.

CB Jaden Mickey

► Basics: 6-0, 176; Corona (Calif.) Centennial

► Rivals ranking: Four stars, No. 20 CB, No. 181 overall.

► 247Sports ranking: Four stars, No. 26 CB, No. 196 overall.

► Notable numbers: Mickey recorded 43 tackles, 28 of them solo, for an 11-1 team that reached the CIF Division I Southern Section semifinals. He also had a tackle for loss, a blocked kick, a safety, 10 pass breakups, two kickoff returns for TDs and two interceptions — including a pick six.

CB Benjamin Morrison

► Basics: 6-0, 179; Phoenix Brophy Prep

► Rivals ranking: Four stars, No. 26 CB.

► Notable numbers: Recorded 53 tackles with two interceptions his senior season for Brophy Prep (7-5).

RB Jadarian Price

► Basics: 5-11, 190; Denison (Texas) High

► Rivals ranking: Four stars, No. 5 APB, No. 238 overall.

► 247Sports ranking: Four stars, No. 14 RB, No. 158 overall.

► Notable numbers: Rushed 193 times for 1,803 yards and 17 touchdowns as a senior for Denison (7-4). Also caught 27 passes for 327 yards and a TD. Price finished his high school career with 5,095 rushing yards and 59 total touchdowns.

TE Eli Raridon

► Basics: 6-6, 225; West Des Moines (Iowa) Valley

► Rivals ranking: Four stars, No. 5 TE, No. 178 overall.

► Notable numbers: Caught 53 passes for 627 yards and 10 touchdowns as a senior at West Des Moines Valley (9-3).

OG Billy Schrauth

► Basics: 6-4, 272; Fond du Lac (Wis.) St. Mary’s Springs

► Rivals ranking: Four stars, No. 3 OG, No. 125 overall.

► Notable numbers: The all-state selection blocked for an offense that averaged 248.4 rushing yards per game as a senior at St. Mary’s Springs (11-3), the WIAA Division 6 state runner-up. Defensively, Schrauth totaled 59 tackles, 17 tackles for a loss and three fumble recoveries.

LB Jaylen Sneed

► Basics: 6-2, 215; Hilton Head Island (S.C.) High

► Rivals ranking: Four stars, No. 4 OLB, No. 41 overall.

► Notable numbers: Mr. Football in South Carolina tallied 76 tackles, 18 tackles for a loss, four sacks, four pass breakups, an interception, two blocked punts, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries as a senior for Hilton Head Island (4-7). Sneed also filled in as a run-first quarterback, with 815 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns on 117 carries and 210 passing yards with two touchdown passes.

TE Holden Staes

► Basics: 6-4, 224; Atlanta Westminster School

► Rivals ranking: Three stars, No. 23 TE.

► Notable numbers: Caught 51 passes for 744 yards and seven touchdowns in three seasons at Westminster, which finished 5-5 in 2021. Staes also totaled 53 tackles, 13 tackles for a loss and one interception defensively.

OG Joey Tanona

► Basics: 6-6, 284; Zionsville (Ind.) High

► Rivals ranking: Four stars, No. 8 OG, No. 172 overall.

► Notable numbers: The all-state selection blocked for an offense that averaged 33.1 points per game as a senior at Zionsville (9-6), the state runner-up in Indiana Class 5A.

LB Niuafe Tuihalamaka

► Basics: 6-2, 229; Mission Hills (Calif.) Bishop Alemany

► Rivals ranking: Four stars, No. 8 ILB, No. 197 overall.

► Notable numbers: Recorded 126 tackles, 22 tackles for a loss, four sacks and three forced fumbles as a senior.

OT Aamil Wagner

► Basics: 6-6, 280; Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne

► Rivals ranking: Four stars, No. 21 OT, No. 196 overall.

► 247Sports ranking: Four stars, No. 11 OT, No. 118 overall.

► Notable numbers: From the same high school that produced Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman and Irish cornerbacks coach Mike Mickens, Wagner led Wayne to an 8-3 overall record and a 6-1 mark in the Greater Western Ohio Conference, He's a two-time, first-team all-state selection (2020, 2021).

LB Nolan Ziegler

► Basics: 6-3, 215; Grand Rapids (Mich.) Catholic Central

► Rivals ranking: Four stars, No. 16 ATH.

► 247Sports ranking: Four stars, No. 19 LB, No. 219 overall.

► Notable numbers: Made 120 tackles, nine sacks and returned an interception for a touchdown as a senior for the unbeaten Michigan Division 5 state champs. It's the third state title campaign that Ziegler has been a part of. Ziegler also forced six fumbles. After catching just four passes as a sophomore and junior, Ziegler recorded 67 receptions for 1,343 yards and 25 touchdowns in 14 games.
