Mediterranean, barbecue and sushi restaurants closed in Fayetteville in September
September spurred a flurry of activity in the Fayetteville-area food scene.
A Fayetteville native made a splash with his plans to bring a food hall downtown; an iconic Italian spot celebrated 30 years in business; several new cafes opened around town; and a new boba truck established its wild popularity.
On the other hand, several Fayetteville-area restaurants and food trucks closed last month. Among them were a casual lunch spot, a barbecue food truck, two Asian restaurants and a Mediterranean restaurant.
Here’s a look at the places that have served their final meal:
Closed: Country Boys Grill
Country Boys Grill at 2153 Valleygate Drive in Fayetteville's One Village Plaza appears to have closed. The restaurant's Facebook page and Google listing list it as permanently closed, and the phone line was disconnected Thursday.
It served paninis, hot submarine sandwiches, house-made cheesecake and shrimp and grits.
Management did not immediately respond to requests for comment Thursday.

Closed: Smokin Deez BBQ food truck
Smokin Deez BBQ announced in a Sept. 21 post to its Facebook page that the Hope Mills-founded food truck would cease day-to-day operations.
However, their barbecue sauce will be available for purchase, and the business may still take catering orders and offer holiday meals, according to the post.
Management did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Thursday.
Closed: Oh Snap Hibachi
Oh Snap Hibachi, located at the former Rookies restaurant at 6920 Yadkin Road in Fayetteville, announced a permanent closure in a Sept. 21 post to the restaurant’s Facebook page.
Sept. 23 was the restaurant's last day in business, according to the post.
“It has been an honor and a privilege to serve you,” the post read in part.
The restaurant opened Feb. 7. It served hibachi-style dishes, nigiri, sashimi and sushi and Japanese-inspired tacos.
Management did not respond to requests for comment.

Closed: Shish House and Shish House Express
Shish House at 3041 N. Main St. in Hope Mills was locked and empty during its usual business hours in early September. It wasn’t immediately known what day was its last in business.
The restaurant opened on Oct. 3 last year on the bottom floor below the former Aqua Night Club.
Dishes from across the Middle East were served, but the menu had a focus on Yemeni and Lebanese cuisine. Traditional Yemeni stews such as saltah and fahsah joined chargrilled skewers of lamb, beef, chicken and seafood.
Shish House's closing comes not long after the former Shish House Express at 6270 Yadkin Road in Fayetteville closed April 3, according to Cumberland County Department of Health Records. The restaurant opened Sept. 26 last year.
Management did not respond to requests for comment.

Closed: Sushi House
Sushi House at 1812 Skibo Road in Fayetteville closed for good Sept. 1.
“Thank you for all your support, we are permanently closed,” a sign on the door read.
The restaurant opened in the former Ruby Tuesday building in January, not long after another sushi restaurant, Ajisai — which had moved in over the summer — closed. Both sushi restaurants were under the same owner.
Management did not respond to requests for comment.
