The Masked Singer nearly got an early reveal from one of its celebrity contestants.

Last weekend's show saw a double unmasking when Skunk Anansie singer Skin was unveiled as Duck and Scissor Sisters' Jake Shears was revealed to be the Unicorn — but Skin nearly spoiled the surprise earlier in the run.

In an interview with Radio Times, Skin revealed that some of the sound equipment she used on the set of The Masked Singer became a recurring problem.

"I accidentally messed up on [one] thing," she confessed. "I had my ear monitors and I didn't know until I was handing it to the sound man that the ear monitors had my [real] name across the front."

Though she was able to retrieve the monitors and change the writing to 'Duck', the trouble continued when she then brought the equipment home with her to rehearse outside the studio.

"I was going to work on something and I brought out my ear monitors and they still had 'Duck' written across the front of it," she recalled, adding: "You know what? It just takes one person to say, 'I know who such and such is'."

Luckily, Skin was somehow able to keep anyone from seeing those monitors in order to maintain the "complete and utter lockdown" that protected the show's secrets.

There are several masked contestants still in the running, including that pesky Hedgehog — while Hollyoaks favourite Stephanie Davis has recently shot down fan speculation that she is Queen Bee.

The Masked Singer will continue this Saturday (February 8) on ITV.
