'M*A*S*H' Actress Eileen Saki Dead at 79

Eileen Saki, an actress known for her role as Rosie on M*A*S*H has died, new reports reveal. She was 79.

Sources close to Saki's family shared the news with TMZ, revealing that the late star passed away in Los Angeles, Calif. on Monday, May 1, following a battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband, Bob Borgen.

Saki famously played the memorable Rosie's bar owner, starring as the character in the season seven episode entitled. "A Night at Rosie's," which aired in 1979. Prior to that, Saki had previously appeared in a different role in season five, and went on to act in a handful of other episodes throughout the show's tenure.

In addition to her time on M*A*S*H, Saki is also known for her roles in Splash (1984), History of the World Part 1 (1981) and Meteor (1979), among others.

Saki's M*A*S*H co-star Jeff Maxwell also confirmed the news on Tuesday, writing via the Facebook page for his podcast Mash Matters, "Our sweet Eileen. Our sassy Rosie."

"On behalf of her husband Bob, we extend sincere appreciation for the hundreds of M*A*S*H fans who filled Eileen's final days with peace, encouragement, and love," the Facebook post continued. "She read every email and responded to as many as she could."

"We will share more remembrances of Eileen Saki throughout the day," the emotional post added. "You are invited to do the same."

Maxwell—who played Igor Straminsky on the beloved sitcom—concluded his message with some sweet words for Saki, writing, "Our sweet, sweet Eileen. How we love you. How we will miss you."

Maxwell also shared a follow-up post to reflect on how he and co-host Ryan Patrick just interviewed Saki last year.

"Neither of us knew Eileen or had any idea how the interview would go, but we hoped we would at least unearth some moments of interest," Maxwell wrote on Facebook on Tuesday, adding, "It turned out to be love at first guest."

He couldn't say enough good things about the late actress, stating, "I think it took two - maybe three minutes for us to fall in love with her. She was gracious, funny, engaging, insightful, adorable, filled with M*A*S*H stories, and exhibited more energy than I remember having twenty years ago."

"She spoke with great love for all the cast members but was particularly appreciative of her interaction with Executive Producer and director, Burt Metcalfe. The visit with her was pure joy as she filled every word with joy, life, and love," he added.
