Luke Weaver gets good news after injury scare
It was a scary scene when Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Luke Weaver left the Reds' game on Tuesday with his left arm hanging by his side. But Weaver, who took a line drive off of his left elbow, avoided a major injury.
Weaver is likely going to be able to make his next start. He plans to play catch on Thursday, and the key test for the right-handed pitcher will be how he catches the ball with his left arm.

Weaver said the line drive hit him right on a nerve, and his arm went a bit numb. He was wearing a wrap over his left elbow on Wednesday, and he didn't throw on Wednesday to give the swelling a chance to go down. Against the Giants on Tuesday, Weaver allowed four runs in 2 2/3 innings, but he had his best fastball of the year, hit 97 mph and struck out six batters.
After a fatigued Reds' bullpen had to cover the rest of Tuesday's game in Weaver's place, the Reds added some support on Wednesday. They called up starting pitcher Levi Stoudt, who will be available as a long reliever out of the bullpen. In a corresponding move, the Reds optioned Daniel Duarte.
